LIB: 2012 The Recluse Syrah, Broken Leg Vineyard

2012 The Recluse Syrah

From the Broken Leg Vineyard, perched atop a forested mountainside on a south facing slope in soils of decomposed sandstone & loamy clay.

Anderson Valley

Our 7th year crafting Syrah from the Broken Leg Vineyard which is perched atop a forested mountainside on a south facing slope in soils of decomposed sandstone & loamy clay. Of our three vineyard designate Syrah's this is our captivating lady who slowly reveals her charms. As a result she is always the last to release, in 2012 spending 13 months aging in bottle. For the first time we are offering this wine in six packs.

The 2012 Syrah The Recluse Broken Leg Vineyard is racy, exuberant and generous, especially next to the 2011. Dark red cherry., plum, licorice, mint and sweet spices are all woven together nicely in an effortless, gracious wine that shows considerable promise. The generous vintage balances some of the wilder characteristics of this windy site in 2012. 91-93 pts. Vinous, Antonio Galloni, Feb 2014.
