We headed to the Sierra Foothills in search of Syrah grown on granite in 2003. Our desire was to find a terroir that would lend the wine the wet earth, mineral and blackberry notes found in Northern Rhône Syrah’s we loved. In 2005 we made our first vintage of Fenaughty Vineyard Syrah and have been hooked since. We fell in love with this vineyard for it’s north facing slope, old vines and distinct flavors. This wine illustrates perfectly why nearly half of our production is grown in the Sierra Foothills.

Vivid ruby. Heady spice- and smoke-accented dark berry aromas are complemented by a sexy floral pastille nuance. Sweet and seamless in texture, offering juicy blackberry liqueur and violet pastille flavors plus hints of licorice and spicecake. Lingers with strong tenacity on the penetrating, floral- and mineral-tinged finish, which features harmonious tannins and an echo of candied flowers.93 points. Josh Raynolds
