2015 Old Vine Carignane, Testa Vineyard
Trust us. You want this wine on your table.
Old vine Carignane is one of the many unsung grape heroes in our opinion that is far too often hidden from the list of varietals, never being the star. We are among several California producers striving to highlight the beauty and versatility of varietal (old vine) Carignane at the Testa Vineyard, planted in 1912 by Gaetano & Maria Testa and farmed today by 4th generation Maria Testa & her husband Rusty.
Tasting Note: A touch of blueberry juiciness, but overall, more savory qualities show themselves with this delicate and floral nose, highlighted by a touch of fresh sage and pine needles. Once we delve into exploring the complex nature of this light bodied red, we find hints of white pepper and graphite, and a back and forth conversation between the juiciness of a dark berry profile, hints of cinnamon and the dusty nature of medium tannins.
