2015 Chardonnay, Perli Vineyard
Our newest Chard vineyard planted at 2200' on the side of a Mountain.
This is mountain fruit grown a few miles from the Pacific, among the majestic Redwoods and wildlife in the Potato Patch Block at the remote Perli Vineyards. As Steve Alden, owner and grape grower at Perli says, he is farming in the wilderness. This is our 10th year at Perli (Syrah) but our first vintage making Chardonnay which took years to come to life but we are excited to see these vines develop and our first vintage of 46 cases will not disappoint!
Tasting Note: From the first smell to the last sip, citrus reigns supreme in this Chardonnay. Smells of lemon brioche waft out of the glass with a sweeter Meyer lemon hiding in the background and just a subtle reminder of oak. There is a savory quality as you begin to taste, a fresh greenness like wet cucumber skin, and a subtle vanilla bean in the finish. The savory identity is balanced well with tart kumquat flavors and orange zest, with just a touch of crunchy honeydew.
