2018 Nouveau Glou
Chuggable, delicious and vibrant with exactly the right amount of big girl funk. Our blend of Barsotti Vineyard Clariette and Testa Vineyard Merlot will knock your socks off
132 tons crushed here at 1340 5th Street and now it's time to party! That about sums up the spirit of our Nouveau Glou. Beaujolais may have been first to go global with the idea of bottling up a first taste of the new vintage after the long and demanding harvest, but West Coast Nouveau is now in its 3rd year and shows no signs of slowing down.
Chuggable, delicious and vibrant with exactly the right amount of big girl funk - our blend of Barsotti Vineyard Clariette and Testa Vineyard Merlot will knock your socks off. It may not appear to be a white wine, but she is more Clarirette than Merlot. And another secret - The Merlot was the last out of the press, which ironically was far lighter in color and sweeter than its free run juice hours earlier, due to those whole berries popping in the press (carbonic at Donkey & Goat -oh my!).
Tasting Note: The milky magenta color lends proof to this zero-zero infant of a wine that is full of life and promise but too delicious to keep around long enough to find out what the teenage years might bring. Strawberry, watermelon, lime zest and wait for it....pepper (thank you Merlot!) are immediate and obvious. A little spritz to tickle your palate and ensure one glass will not possibly be enough.
