SAFE SHIPPING TIP: We strongly prefer a business address where an adult is available to sign on the first delivery attempt which avoids our unfiltered wines riding around on a hot truck all day.
For our last and 9th vintage at Broken Leg we decided to bottle age until we felt this gorgeous Syrah was strutting her charms. Two years 7 months later we think she is ready! Broken Leg was planted by the inimitable Steve Williams in the 1970’s. Steve was the first to plant Syrah in the Valley and the first to convince us to make Pinot. Tracey chased down Steve in 2004 in their search for cool climate Syrah. In 2007 Steve and Tracey got together and grafted a 1.5 acre block of Viognier above his home to Pinot Noir. Tracey & Jared leased and farmed Broken Leg Vineyard for years but eventually could not maintain the level of attention needed from 120 miles away. We will cherish their minuscule last vintage of 95 cases!
Tasting Note: Dark red cherry, plum, licorice, mint and sweet spices are all woven together nicely in an effortless, gracious wine that shows considerable promise. The generous vintage balances some of the wilder characteristics of this windy site in 2013.
