2019 Grenache Noir was a Wine & Spirits Top 100 wine.

Deep in old gold country, our Grenache grows in two vineyards, Fenaughty and Girard. Girard is a gorgeous lower elevation site, with warm breezes, much like the mysterious mistral of the Rhone Valley. Higher up to the sky, you will find the unassuming gem of Fenaughty Vineyard now owned and farmed by Chuck & Ron Mansfield. For us, El Dorado IS the Fenaughty Vineyard very much like the kitchen is the heart of our home. Fenaughty provides the savory thread and structure where Girard skips across the pallet playing hide and seek with cheerful and pleasing flavors.

Tasting Note:

This wine beautifully encapsulates the very living and changeable nature of winemaking. Year after year the unique combination of variables that impact our winemaking decisions push us to think creatively and to adapt. For us, this is what craftsmanship is all about. Weather factors and our strong commitment to our growers led us to pick early this year, resulting in a light-bodied but structured wine that leans into the herbaceous and savory notes of Grenache. Hints of peppercorn, sage and rosemary combine with mouthwatering acidity to make this an ideal food wine – try pairing with glazed salmon or pepperoni pizza, and serve slightly chilled.
