Big Brain : The Achievement Paradox 6/9 @7PM

Event Details

  • Date:

A No‑Phone Lecture with Dr. Chrissy Stachl

An evening of presence, ideas, and real human connection

🌙 About the Event

This is a special, intentionally low‑tech gathering. From 7–9pm, we invite all attendees to step away from their phones and experience the lecture fully present.

When you check in, you’ll be asked to turn off your phone and place it into an envelope provided at the door. You’ll keep your phone with you — we’re not collecting or locking anything — but the goal is to create a rare space where everyone is truly here together, without digital distractions.

If you’d like to take notes, please bring a journal. We’ll also have journals and pens available for purchase at the event.

🧠 Lecture Topic

Why do so many successful people still feel disconnected from themselves?

Modern culture rewards productivity, achievement, and external validation. Yet many high‑achieving people still find themselves emotionally exhausted, disconnected from their bodies, and wondering why success doesn’t feel as fulfilling as they expected.

In this lecture, Dr. Chrissy Stachl — somatic empowerment coach and former UC Berkeley physical chemistry PhD — explores this question through the lens of:

  • Somatic coaching
  • Nervous system work
  • Lived experience
  • Insights from somatic psychology

Rather than a traditional research‑heavy psychology talk, this lecture focuses on embodied understanding, personal development, and what it looks like to reconnect with yourself more fully.

Note: This event is not a clinical psychology lecture. It draws on ideas from psychology but is grounded in somatic coaching and personal development.
